Careers

We’re a growing firm working on some of the most technically interesting commissioning and controls projects in Western Canada. You’ll work directly on real systems — chillers, BAS platforms, complex institutional builds — not just paperwork, with mentorship from senior engineers.
Field commissioning, controls and BAS reviews, TAB, data analysis, and technical reporting — across projects ranging from simple mechanical systems to multi-tower new construction. Variety is built into the job.
We invest in our people: EGBC registration support, exposure to emerging smart-building technology, and a clear path from field work to project leadership.
Small enough that your work is visible, rigorous enough that you’ll grow fast. We value evidence, honesty, and collaboration — the same standards we bring to our projects

Job Description

Join Our Team

Are you interested in optimizing buildings, reducing carbon emissions, solving real-world problems — and seeing the impact? We’d like to hear from you. Whether you’re a mechanical engineer, commissioning agent, controls specialist, or TAB technician, we’re always open to meeting people who share our standards — even if there’s no posting that matches your exact background.
Vancouver, BC | Office + Field We’re looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Building Commissioning Specialist to lead and support commissioning activities on new construction, retrofits, and existing building optimization projects. You’ll work with owners, design teams, contractors, and facility operators to verify that building systems perform to design intent — with room to take on greater technical responsibility and project leadership. What you’ll do:
  • Lead commissioning of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and BAS systems — from design review through functional testing
  • Develop commissioning plans, pre-functional checklists, and FPT procedures to ASHRAE standards
  • Perform on-site functional testing of HVAC systems, central plants, AHUs, hydronic systems, chillers, and control sequences
  • Analyze BAS trend data to verify sequencing, efficiency, and optimization opportunities
  • Prepare detailed commissioning reports and deficiency logs; mentor junior staff
What you bring:
  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Systems Engineering (or related)
  • 3–7 years in commissioning, TAB, controls, mechanical contracting, or building operations
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, hydronic, and central plant systems, BAS, and control sequences
  • Proficiency reading drawings, control schematics, and BAS trend logs
  • CCP or CBCP certification an asset
To apply, send your resume to careers@kcxengineering.com with “Commissioning Specialist” in the subject line.
Vancouver, BC | Field-based, Lower Mainland & BC travel We’re seeking a technically capable TAB Technician to take on a lead field role — independently planning and executing TAB scopes on commercial and institutional HVAC systems, delivering high-quality reports, and mentoring junior technicians as the primary technical contact on assigned projects. What you’ll do:
  • Independently execute air-side and hydronic TAB scopes on commercial and institutional projects
  • Perform airflow measurements (pitot tubes, flow hoods, anemometers) and hydronic balancing of pumps, coils, and terminal units
  • Interpret mechanical drawings and specifications; identify and document field deficiencies
  • Prepare professional TAB reports to ASHRAE, AABC, or NEBB standards
  • Mentor junior technicians and coordinate site activities with contractors and commissioning engineers
What you bring:
  • 3–5+ years of TAB field experience (senior candidates with 7+ years encouraged to apply)
  • Diploma, certificate, or trade qualification in Building/Mechanical Systems, HVAC, or Refrigeration
  • TAB certification (AABC, NEBB, or TABB) strongly preferred — or actively in progress
  • Proficiency with the full range of TAB instrumentation
  • Valid BC driver’s license and ability to work at elevation and in mechanical spaces
To apply, send your resume to careers@kcxengineering.com with “TAB Technician” in the subject line.
