Goal of the project
This new-construction project delivered an all-electric community centre with no gas connection — a fully electrified mechanical design built around heat recovery ventilators, VRF systems, and electric resistance heating. The goal was to commission these systems and verify that the building performed to design intent, delivering reliable comfort across its gymnasium, fitness, childcare, and community spaces on an all-electric basis.
How did KCx achieve goal
KCx Engineering delivered commissioning for the project. Our team verified the performance of the heat recovery ventilators, VRF systems, and electric resistance heating, confirming that each operated as designed and that the control sequences coordinating them delivered appropriate conditions across the building’s varied spaces.
Commissioning confirmed that the ventilation, heating, and cooling systems worked together to meet the demands of a busy multi-purpose facility — verifying, through testing, that the all-electric design delivered the comfort and reliability the community centre’s wide range of programs requires.
